1920 The national prohibition on the manufacture, sale of, transportation within, trade from and to The United States and all territory under its jurisdiction of intoxicating liqueur for beverage purposes went into effect it contained a provision that was used to allow lawmakers to define what was intoxicating and eventually allowed near beer before it was totally repealed in 1933.
